Australian Lancia Register Castlemaine 19.
19 - 21 October 2007
This was supposed to be the first big outing of 1070. The brakes had been rebuilt, radiator recored, even got a RWC and been registered. However on the way 200 km from home just outside sunny Rosedale, the clutch broke. I’d stopped for a loo break and when I tried to start the car nothing happened. Thinking the starter motor might have jammed I pushed the car back and forward, tried again. It started but there was a horrible rattle and no clutch, bugger! Called the RACV, fours later the tow truck arrived, a further four hours and we were back home.
You can read about the repair here.
In the end I took up Andrew Cox's offer of a ride for the day in his Lambda. So for the first time since I'd joined the register in 1980 I made it to a Castlemaine, there had been a 20 year gap in my membership!
