Australian Formula One Grand Prix 1986

Adelaide, South Australia. October 23rd - 26th October 1986.

The second ever Australian Formula One Grand Prix in Adelaide. After watching the first the year before I had to go again. Another four day ticket and TAA home stay accommodation was organised, this time I had my nice little Mercedes 190E to speed over.

The format was the same as the previous year with Thursday practice for the minor races, Friday F1 practice and the first qualifying session, remember when they did that? Saturday more F1 practice and the second qualifying session. Sunday F1 morning warm up and the race at the respectable start time of 14.00.

This year I had a seat in the "Hairpin Stand 1" just before the hairpin entrance to the pit straight. Unfortunately not as good as it looked on the map in the ticket office, I seemed to spend a fair bit of time staring at a porta loo and big bin at the back of the pits!

More of my random photos are below. Thursday and Friday morning were wet but from there on it was dry.

The best report of the race is here:  http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/rr436.html
